Amodei coasts to 20 point victory in Nevada |
2011-09-14 |
Republican Mark Amodei coasted to victory Tuesday, delivering an all-out defeat to Democrat Kate Marshall in Nevada's first special House election since the state entered the union, according to election results compiled by The Associated Press. With 70 percent of precincts reporting, Amodei had captured 57 percent of the vote to Marshall's 37 percent in the race to replace former Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nev.), who was appointed to the Senate in April when former Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) resigned amid a scandal. Marshall conceded the race two hours after polls closed in Nevada. |

#8 Did I miss something? Uh, yeah. She's jerking people around for whatever her personal reasons might be. Let's leave voting for the charismatic narcissist to the dumbocrats. Let's vote for someone who will cancel out obumble's stain on this Republic... |

#6 moose, those percentages are borough wide and based on population, not voters I think I have heard that people are trying to get the demographics of the NY 9th voting. |

#5 The Israeli newspapers are positively gleeful about the NY-9 Republican victory. The Drudge headline is "The Revenge of the Jews". However, what made it a slam-dunk is interesting. While the district was leaning to the Republican already, the Democrat came out with a suicidal statement: "Because of my Orthodox Jewish faith, I support gay marriage." That just killed him dead in Brooklyn, where he lost 67% to 33%. Noteworthy as well, he very slightly *won* in Queens, by about 1,000 votes. According the 2010 Census, 39.7% of the population of Queens was White, 19.1% Black or African American, 22.9% Asian, 12.9% from some other race, and 4.5% of two or more races. 27.5% of Queens's population was of Hispanic or Latino origin (of any race). 11% of the people in Queens are Jewish. According to the 2010 Census, 35.7% of the population of Brooklyn was non-Hispanic White, 31.9% non-Hispanic Black or African American, 10.4% non-Hispanic Asian, 0.4% from some other race (non-Hispanic) and 1.6% of two or more races (non-Hispanic). 19.8% of Brooklyn's population was of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin 15% of the people in Brooklyn are Jewish. |

#3 A slam dunk in these two special elections. That's got to have BO and Axlerod and crew sweating and trying to spin these election results into something else. Amodel was expected to win more than the Turner (a Catholic in a heavily Jewish district). The Jewish people must be really ticked off about BO's shabby treatment of Israel. I'm offended by his shabby treatment of a good ally of democracy. |

#2 "Ensign was under investigation by the Senate Ethics Committee and the FBI in the wake of an admitted sexual relationship with campaign aide Cindy Hampton and accusations that he tried to steer lobbying business to her husband, Doug, a former Ensign top staffer." - Huffpo |
