[Tripoli Post] Qatar has become the world's first country to accord astate welcome to the head of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC), Mustafa Abdul Jalil.

On Sunday Jalil was given a guard of honour as part of a state reception that is normally given to visiting heads of state. As is customary, national anthems of the two countries were played and the new national flag of Libya was displayed along with the Qatari flag.

British diplomats have arrived in Tripoli as part of the government's plan to increase its presence in the Libyan capital. A small group from the British foreign office will make preparations for the arrival of more diplomats. No date has however been set for reopening the British Embassy.

Forces loyal to the fallen dictator Muammar Al Qadaffy in his hometown of Sirte are reportedly urging people to fight or be killed by bloodthirsty attackers, complicating efforts to arrange a peaceful surrender of the city, opponents of the Libyan leader said on Monday.
