The One Blames "Politics" - Only Their Politics
2011-08-16
Where's the Irony Meter? The quote is from a CNN article dated August 12th, but I heard this quoted on the DC radio this morning as though it was spoken yesterday:
Last week's first-ever downgrade of the U.S. credit rating by Standard & Poor's "could have been entirely avoided if there had been a willingness to compromise in Congress," the president said, adding: "It didn't happen because we didn't have the capacity to pay our bills. It happened because Washington doesn't have the capacity to come together and get things done."
Which is clearly the fault of the Trunks, and especially the Tea-pers. I guess we rubes are all supposed to have forgotten that The Zero had a deal with Speaker Boehner several days before it became a "crisis", said deal included $800 billion in new revenue, but El Presidente wanted another $400 bill, as his last 'goodie' - his "best and final offer."

Talks then collapsed.

But that's not the kind of "politics" that the President disparages. Maybe he did say something like this yesterday, but I can't find anything like this less than four days old. What S&P really said was this:

Standard & Poor's report stated that the "political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America's governance and policymaking becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than what we previously believed."
Link
Less stable, less effective, and less predictable - I wonder if the guy at the top has anything to do with that?

#26  Remember how we used to make fun of the KOS Kiddies when Bush was in office?

Let's not let it all fall apart here.

#23  Obama said the U.S. economy and American workers are capable of being the best in the world

They are if they are unshackled from all the regulations coming from Washington that kill jobs.

Since Obama got elected, the wife and I figured we are spending about a third more on groceries, gas and essentials due to price inflation. If we are doing that businesses are doing that too. That is a job-killer. Things are going to get worse when Obamascare hits.

#22  Ah, yes those Canadian camps for Japanese that didn't exist in your alternate universe. We can practice the same game the left plays, hold you to the standards you expect of others. Keep trying kid.

#21  Yes, not the same as extermination camps, rocks into rice camps, or just murder you in the patty rouge camps.

#19  Next US election cycle may have quite a bit to do with who will control, if anyone, the arctic ocean.

Nearly every national or city/state government has detained one way or another political adversaries, the exceptions not coming to mind and likely quite small in land area and influence. There can be no finger pointing there, only discussion on magnitude and reason.

Luck is the residue of design. Even if it didn't exist, it exists because people believe it exists, to paraphrase Voltaire. But to keep it simple, it exists because there is a word for it fool.

If obama really is for lowering the rhetoric he is either incapable, unwilling, but likely both.

Really concerned about islamists? Go to that section and ask questions, learn something, I did, instead of using a muppet to poke badgers.

#18  Canada didn't have interment camps ASAICT. Interment camps were a Nazi ideal.

#15  the Tea Party (what a name LOLs) Yet another demonstration of ignorance / contempt for US history & traditions. Glad my ancestor left Quebec when he had the chance. Some of his cousins emigrated after the rebellions of 1837, and joined the Union Army during the rebellion of 1861.

#14  I multitask. As for Islamists in this country, I'm concerned, but not to the point of thinking there's one under every bed. CSIS (and the Muslim community up here) have done a good job weeding the troublemakers out..

#13  Shakey,
Shouldn't you be paying attention to Canadian politics instead of the pre-pre-pre-election cycle in another country?
Also you might want to worry about immigrants from a certain country that keep trying to blow up Canadian public buildings and behead the Prime Minister.

#12  Shakey has gotten to be such a bad troll, I have stopped reading his text blocks. It isn't even amusing anymore, just pathetic. Kinda like a 2 year old throwing poo to get attention.

#10  ...obviously Steve you have nothing to offer but ad hominem after you whined about a lack of well reasoned discourse.

#9  Hey Shakey,
Prior to an agreement The congressional Black Caucus said they wouldn't support any legislation that touches entitlement programs. And, IIRC, not a single member of the CBC voted for the so-called 'debt-deal'. Funny...haven't heard VP Biden calling the CBC "economic terorrists".
Tea Party downgrade my ass!

#8  " ...no. They're just pushing back for all the demonizing, scapegoating, and leftest trope....sputter, sputter..."

Do you want cheese with the whine?
Posted by: Shakey Steve   2011-08-16 09:59

#7  ...no. They're just pushing back for all the demonizing, scapegoating, and leftest trope. Unlike the RINO who go into a tizzy to find favor with the left, the Tea Party people have drawn a line. You push, they'll push back. Now intelligent creatures would take pause after someone uses the same tactics they'd been using for generation and realize 1 - that the other guys understand the game just as well and 2 - that continuing on the same old stick isn't going to work. However, when all your have is attack ad hominem and not real practical solutions, it starts a panic. Sort of like keep pressing on the breaks even after they've failed.

#6  "What a whiner"

Ok, now lets get the whole picture

"During Mr Obama's stop in Decorah, he clashed with a local leader of the conservative Tea Party, Ryan Rhodes.

Mr Rhodes referred to reports that Vice-President Joe Biden had likened Tea Party members during recent debt-ceiling negotiations to terrorists.

Mr Obama replied: "In fairness, since I have been called a socialist who wasn't born in this country, who is destroying America and taking away its freedoms because I passed a health care bill, I am all for lowering the rhetoric."

So who's the whinny beotch? Clearly the Tea Party (what a name LOLs) has their collective panties in a bunch...

#4  Barack Obama:
"We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again," Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. "But over the last six months we've had a run of bad luck."

(If he did indeed actually say that)...Oops! Not a good choice of words...there is no such thing as luck, good or bad...

#3  The Mongols had a custom for the disposal of foreign "princes" after a Nation was taken by the advance of the regiments of the Ordos and the Tumans.
It was felt to be wrong to shed the blood of princes.

So to prevent the shedding of blood, the deposed princes were wrapped in multiple thick Majlis carpets and taken into a barracks field where the horse regiments rode their battalions one by one over the carpet at full gallop and then buried the carpet in the same drill field in a trench....

There is an Election coming up, people...its next year. Let us ride our Tumans and Ordos over the fallen wrapped in carpets for Silence..... and then bury them in the same field.

Then let us get people back to work, there is no real reason why that cant be done efficiently and quickly. People want to work and there is work to be done. Then we dispose of our debts, which also can be done. We have seen INCOMPETENCE, there is no reason to repeat or reward the Democrats. American values are all we need to succeed...and admirably.
You dont reward people who dont work, you dont reward people who dont produce, and you dont promote people who have no record of achievement. You get rid of them.

Recruit the hard working, pay them fairly, set goals. Lead...from the front. The Tea Party are your mothers and fathers, your brothers and sisters. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are not your friends and never were.
Cut Congress's pay. Let them serve and not rule. Show them who rewards who. Take THEIR money away from them until they produce a benefit for the people, reward them ONLY if they give us back what they took. This economic crisis is the work of POLITICIANS....not the people.
The American System ONLY works as long as the People VOTE, and if you dont vote ( 40% isnt good enough you whining ratbags!) then you deserve what happens to your lazy uneducated ass.

LOOK at who you vote for....look at the soul and the spirit and the MIND of that man who is to be your CHOSEN leadership.
If he is a John Edwards and a scumbag...or if he is a phoney like Kerry....you had BETTER see it in his eyes. IF YOU CANT JUDGE ACCURATELY, you will get another weakling with STUPID ideas and total BS like Obama.

Obama is weak. He is a man with no sand. He is a fool who doesnt have the VALUES and the Character. There is no God in his life and there is no God in the MSmedia who served him up all Bill Ayers fetid and Chicago slimy among the bastard Greek Columns where we were supposed to "worship" the Messiah.
YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVED in Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Learn from your mistakes. In amy entire life I have never had a President who was MIne, who was body and soul after my own heart. Before I die, I would like that to happen. Not just some suit with a mouth and a slogan, but someone who was good in his bones, leads by serving, and works with a knowledge due his own humility, who has suffered to learn. And I want a man who can break down and re-assemble his automatic weapon in the dark by feel.
I want a man in the White House who is good enough to die for. I want a man who can look at other men and SEE them.

#2  He is apparently a fan of Robert Heinlein as of yesterday in Iowa.
Heinlein: Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as “bad luck.”

Barack Obama:
“We had reversed the recession, avoided a depression, gotten the economy moving again,” Obama told a crowd in Decorah, Iowa. “But over the last six months we’ve had a run of bad luck.”
