''Maoists'' kill six villagers in north India
2011-07-03
(KUNA) -- Armed rebels 'Maoists' killed as many as six innocent villagers and kidnapped seven of them in India's northern state of Bihar on Saturday. The rebels came dressed as security personnel and opened fire indiscriminately on the villagers, reported the New Delhi Television (NDTV).

According to the report, nearly 50 armed Maoists stormed a village in the state's Munger district and carried out the killings. "Five people were killed on the spot while one sustained serious injuries and died later in a hospital, " said a police officer.

The state police have begun search operations in Munger to nab the rebels. Security has been heightened in the village and top district officials are camping there.

Munger is one of the Maoists strongholds. The rebels, which claim to fight for the landless labourers, are active in various states like Bihar, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

#6  Mao is dead and his ideology is totally discredited.

So is Marx, but his disciples control the White House.

#5  Mao is dead and his ideology is totally discredited

The same can be said about a lot of political philosophies and movements and their founders. Generally the response by the adherents is that the founder was misunderstood or the philosophy/movement was betrayed.

That they may be "morons" and "posers" doesn't diminish their deadliness any.

#2  Why put the word Maoists in quotes?

1. Because there's bandit gangs in the same area. They may be Maoists or not.

2. It ticks off the Maoists.
