Convert teaches Americanized Islam |

Oklahoma-born imam Suhaib Webb, who loads public pronouncements with pop culture references, has a growing following, especially among some young Muslims. Traditionalists are suspicious. |

#6 Always remember there is a jealous God here that deplores that religion if only for spite. Most of whom I met there were very kind - the rest of the mess, there is no tolerance for. They need to turn on these problemic relationships with the kill the Jews party. It diverts attention to the real needs there. I abhor Islam I love all people |

#4 "Would this be an Americanized Islam that preaches equality for all under the law, freedom of religion and speech, that women are people, not property, and that generally speaking, it is wrong to kill Jews?" I know some Muslims like that, Steve. (And notice that I give them the respect of spelling their religion's name correctly when I speak of them, unlike when I talk about the wankers in the Muddled East.) In fact, one of them was telling me when he was a teenager about his imam/teacher, who teaches that kind of stuff to his students. And specifically he teaches them (most of whom are foreign-born) that they are not Pakistanis, or Arabs, or whatever, but Americans. The normal people I know who are of the Muslim religion think the seething jihadis are a bunch of nuts, and don't mind saying so. |

#2 Would this be an Americanized Islam that preaches equality for all under the law, freedom of religion and speech, that women are people, not property, and that generally speaking, it is wrong to kill Jews? If Islam is going to avoid its own personal Nagasaki moment, it is going to need a Martin Luther. |
