Naval chief says no security breach
2011-05-24
KARACHI: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir rejected on Monday the reports of "security breach" at the Pakistan Navy's airbase PNS Mehran that was attacked by a group of terrorists in Karachi on Sunday night, saying the attack on the airbase could not be termed "security lapse".
Oh absolutely your Admiralness, sir...
"Terrorists wanted to cause damage to the assets of the navy. And it was clear that they targeted naval forces," Noman Bashir told a news conference at the conclusion of the anti-terrorist operation at PNS Mehran on Monday.
The admiral at Pearl Harbor didn't keep his job, either...
To summarize: bad guys got onto the base although it was guarded, wreaked a great deal of havoc, and some got away. This is something other than a security breach. What, exactly, will be explained at a later time.

#1  It wasn't a security breach those guys were supposed to get in and blow up the aircraft, steal a nuke and slip out into the night but some of the security watch didn't get the memo to take the night off and watch a cricket match.
