#8 Pirate Party - sounds like truth in advertising; pirates are known for looting, pillaging and r*ping, just like real politicians... |

#7 I was a little vague on the whole thing as well, which explains the Wikipedia references. So once again Rantburg U (my real alma mater) brings some knowledge into my life. I'm still confused about the Contempt of Parliament charges. From the limited amount of time I wanted to spend reading about it, I got the impression that it's a super-partisan tempest in a teapot over technicalities . . . but I could be wrong. I was amused by some of the party names at the Wiki Election link: Communist, Marxist-Leninist, Animal Alliance Environment Voters, Marijuana, Pirate, Rhinoceros, People's Political Power. It's like walking among the stands at Lollapalooza. |

#6 I apologize. I was indeed thinking of Australia, and the British definition of liberal. Thank you, Zebulon Thranter9856 and ryuge for so nicely correcting me. |

#4 The Liberal Party is the primary challenger to Harper's Conservative Party in the upcoming Canadian elections. Wikipedia describes the Liberal Party as being "centre to centre-left." |

#3 In Canada the Conservative Party are the conservatives. I believe you are thinking of Australia where the Liberal Party are the (sorta) conservatives. |

#2 It's Canada, Glenmore. The Liberal Party are the conservatives. |

#1 That does sound pretty stupid and rude, and I would hope conservatives would have sacked him too. Not for being un-PC, but for being stupid and rude. |
