5 Afghan Forces Killed, 12 Wounded in Kandahar Suicide Attack |

[Tolo News] At least five Afghan cops were killed and 12 others were maimed after jacket wallahs attacked on the recruitment centre of Afghan police and national army in Kandahar on Thursday, local officials said. The incident happened at 10:20 am local time as three ![]() One suicide bomber driving an ambulance detonated his explosives near the recruitment centre after which two other attackers broke into the compound and started exchanging fire with the Afghan cops, he said. Three soldiers of National Directorate of Security, One Afghan police and one Afghan National Army recruit were killed and 12 police soldiers were maimed in the incident, Mr Mujahid added. All the suicide bombers have been killed in the attack. There were no civilian casualties in the incident, officials said. The festivities continued for about six hours and foreign forces had also arrived in the area. The roads were blocked until the festivities ended. Some helicopters were also seen circling over the site of the incident. No group including the Taliban has grabbed credit for the attack. Militants have previously attacked on governments buildings in the province resulting to civilian casualties. Insurgents are active in most villages of Kandahar and use Improvised Explosive Devices to target Afghan and foreign forces. |
