 Federally funded FLAP grant, DOE, mandatory, parents caught by surprise, "culture/art/history", "language of the future", stereotypes, PC acceptance and handwringing, please kill me last, the usual suspects and package.Looks like another fuc&ing pilot program/test balloon. | #9 According to the link, the plan is now "on hold". I think the main point here isn't "Arabic" but "1.3 million dollar grant". Hacks hate to pass up free money. They'd teach the virtues of bestiality if they could get somebody else to pay them for it. |

| #7 As for the DOD and Homeland Security not having enough Arabic speakers - do they still turn down Jews and/or Israeli's who speak it (so as to avoid offending the resident Muslims)? I would be surprised if that is still NOT the case. |

MANDATORY Muslim Prayers 3 times during the day - in Arabic. MANDATORY fasting during Ramadamadingdong? No Language, no Culture, and no Religion should be FORCED on a student except for the Language & Culture of the land. | #5 The MANDATORY thing does seem un-American. But if encouraged with incentives (extra credit, etc.), it does seem like a good idea in a know-your-enemy sort of way -- the reason so many in Israel speak Arabic, for instance. |

| #3 If they want to offer it as another language course, like French, German or Spanish then great. To make it MANDATORY is beyond the pale. There is no need to make it mandatory other than the continued stealth jihad against America by the liberals and their Islamic radical friends. Defund the DOE, along with every other alphabet soup agency. |
