Four armed suspects were killed and three prison guards wounded was the toll in separate confrontations between Mexican security forces and elements of organized crime Wednesday in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
- Armed suspects shot and wounded three unidentified prison guards of the Topo Chico Centro de Readaptacion Social (CERESO) in Monterrey Wednesday. The guards were riding aboard a vehicle when armed suspects fired on them near the intersection of avenidas Ruiz Cortines and Bernardo Reyes at about 1850 hrs.
- Armed suspects damaged five vehicles when they launched a grenade at police facilities in San Nicholas de Los Garza Wednesday. The attack took place at the corner of calles Alfonso Herrera and Juan M. Farias in the Constituyentes de Queretaro colony. Four official patrol vehicles and one privately owned vehicle were damaged in the parking lot. No one was reported hurt.
- A detachment of Mexican Marines in unmarked vehicles raided a luxury apartment in San Pedro Garza Garcia Wednesday killing four armed suspects. The raid took place at about 0800 hrs near the corner of calles Vasconcelos and Jimenez. Reports say the suspects died while allowing a top narcotics suspect time to escape. Among the dead are Adrian Núñez Hernandez, said to be the personal body guard of San Pedro Garza Garcia mayor Mauricio Fernändez Garza.
