2 killed in 'shootouts'
2010-12-21
[Bangla Daily Star] Two alleged criminals were killed in "shootouts" with the Rapid Action Battalion in the capital and Tangail early yesterday.

The dead were identified as Alamgir Hossain Alam alias Takku Alam, 38, and Mamunur Rahman Mamun, 25.

In the city's Hazaribagh, Alam was rubbed out allegedly in a shootout between his cohorts and a Rab team.

He was the second-in-command of the gang led by nabbed top criminal Sanjidul Islam Emon of the capital, said police sources.

Anamul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hazaribagh Police Station, said Alam was accused in six cases including murder charges filed with the cop shoppe.

A patrol team of Rab on suspicion challenged a group of people at Beribandh Baubazar of Hazaribagh at about 3:30am, the OC said.
Look, officers! Purbo Banglar commies!
We ain't falling for that trick, ya mugs! Fill your hands miscreants!
BANGBANGBANGBANGBANG....

Suddenly the gang opened fire on the Rab men prompting them to fire back. At one stage of the shootout, the gang members decamped the scene leaving Alam with bullet injuries on the spot, he added.

Around 4:30am the Rab team sent Alam to Mitford Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He's dead, Jim!

A foreign-made pistol, one LG, five bullets, seven yaba tablets and some beer cans were recovered from the spot.
Yaba and beer, Mahmound. The devil's favorite.
When will they ever learn, sarge.

Meanwhile,
...back at the ranch...
in Tangail, Mamun was killed in a "shootout" at Sener Makulla village of Gopalpur upazila.

Rab sources claimed Mamun was an illegal arms trader.

A Rab team, acting on a tip-off, went to the village at about 1:00am to recover firearms, said Maj Mahfuzul Haque, commander of Crime Prevention Company-3 of Rab-12.
The Rab really are expanding -- the units now have companies. Clearly, criminal justice is an up-and-coming career choice in Bangladesh. Thank goodness there is an apparently endless stream of criminals to be crossfired and encountered. Of course, they said there was an endless supply of passenger pigeons, too...
He told The Daily Star that as the team approached a brick kiln, the criminals shot at the Rab members. Mamun came in the line of fire when the law enforcers retaliated.

His associates, however, managed to flee the scene.
... as though they had never been...

The Rab team claimed to have recovered two light guns (LG), one foreign-made revolver and five bullets from the spot.
No yaba tablets, sarge?
Nah. He probably ate 'em. It makes 'em crazy...

Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Gopalpur Police Station, said police recovered the body and sent it to Tangail General Hospital morgue for an appointment with Dr. Quincy.
