TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's judiciary spokesman confirms the country's first vice president is facing corruption charges.
Maybe he's a Democrat ... |
If he claims his accusers are racists, we'll know for sure. | The semi-official ISNA news agency quoted judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi as saying Monday that First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi will have to stand trial.
In recent months, conservative lawmakers have openly accused Rahimi of financial corruption. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's deputy has denied the charges and threatened to sue his accusers.
Iran has 12 vice presidents but Rahimi is the most senior among them. |
