| Suspect package closes airport in Norway |

| [Emirates 24/7] The discovery of a suspect package forced authorities to close Haugesund airport on the west coast of Norway early Saturday, police said. The package was found on Friday evening around 11:00 pm (2200 GMT) and after an initial enquiry police decided to close the airport in the early hours of Saturday, Haugesund police chief of staff Edgar Mannes told AFP. "Normally, we would just view this as a lost/forgotten item. It was the circumstances surrounding the find that caused us to go further and view the item as suspicious," he said, without explaining what the circumstances were or giving any other details. He did not say why the authorities had delayed in closing the airport. |
