Terrorists booby trapped a box of pastries with explosives in Boumerdes
2010-12-14
The Case of the Exploding Donuts is solved...
[Ennahar] The security services have recently managed to dismantle a terrorist support and logistics group, consisting of 8 elements, two of whom were involved in offering a box of pastries, filled with explosives, to police services a week ago, in the region of Ain El Hamra, Bordj Ménaïl (corpse-littered Boumerdes) on the passage of a wedding procession.
Watch 'em, Mahmoud...Hey! Doughnuts!
According to corroborating sources, an armed terrorist group, activating probably within the phalanx Al Ansar, had trapped a box of pastries with explosives and sent two of its elements, from the town of Cap Djinet, to offer it to the elements of the gendarmerie at a security checkpoint in the region of Ain El Hamra.
You'd think police and pastries are just a Western joke but no ...
The two group members mingled in the procession, and upon arrival at the security checkpoint, one of them offered the box of pastry to a policeman who, suspecting something had put the box aside. The bomb went kaboom! without causing casualties. The terrorist, aged 26, was jugged and led to the arrest of six other support members to terrorism, all from the villages of Cap Djinet, Ain El Hamra and Ben Ouali.

Extensive search operations are ongoing in many parts of the province of corpse-littered Boumerdes and other central areas like Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, since last Thursday, especially after the theft of four vehicles branded "Kangoo" and "Chevrolet" in Zemouri last week by unknown groups, raising fears, according to our sources, of suicide car boom

I'm sure quite quite voluntarily.

#2  Actualy, while one of the older tricks in the book, the booby-trapped gift can be very effective.

Here in the U.S., I would suggest donuts laced with warafin or a similar anti-coagulant.

Explosives would be less effective.

Man, that's gotta be low even by terrorist standards.
