| #3 To me the most interesting part of this story was that the diesel shortage was an unwanted but entirely predictable side effect. The powers-that-be in China simply ORDERED a cut in electrical production without respect to businesses & people who had other ways of making electricity. Those who were able to, turned on their diesel-powered generators to make up the gap in electricity, diverting the fuel from other places in the economy that were not dependent on electricity. Coming here soon in some form or other. |

| #1 Not just diesel. China is also releasing state stockpiles of food basics. China is caught between the rock of inflation and the hard places of shortages. Welcome to a command economy. |
