#6 For reals?! The lady of the rooftop statue and the bane of Stamford White? So sorry. Mine is Edith Nesbit, whose life, it seems, was no more respectable than Miss Evelyn's, although free-spirited rather than sordid. Fortunately for my childhood innocence, none of that crept into her writing. |
