2010-10-23 |
![]() Mexican Federal police have arrested the man they say detonated the July 16th car bomb in Juarez that killed three including a Mexican Federal agent, according to Mexican press accounts. Fernando Contreras Meraz, AKA El Dorado, was arrested, along with 13 other suspects, for his involvement in the Juarez car bomb commonly thought to be the first use of a car bomb in the Mexican drug war. A spokesman for the Policia Federal, Luis Cardenas Palomino, said that Contreras used explosives stolen by elements of La Linea, the armed wing of the Juarez gang. Contreras is a member of La Linea. Originally, it was reported the US made explosive C4 was used in the blast, but later reports say the commercial dynamite called Tovex was used. Tovex is in common use with Mexican mining and construction companies including the government owned PEMEX oil giant. A few days after the blast an armed group was attacked by a Mexican Army detachment in the town of Madero in far western Chihuahua. Forces there seized a large amount of Tovex, as well as other munitions. Cardenas Palomino said that Contreras placed the call that detonated the July 16th bomb. In August, Mexican Federal agents arrested Noah Sources Chavira, 29, who they tied to the bombing although his role is unclear in reports. In the arrest, agents also seized contraband including marijuana and electronics that could be used for bombs. |

#1 These "criminals" are not much above a rabid dog, and I believe are actually more depraved than the jihadis. At least there is a semblance of ideology with the jihadis. The ultimate answer to maybe primeval. |
