#1 bringing flowers to a hospital patient is to be discouraged because it's a foreign custom that "imitates Allah's adversaries." That right there shows a major flaw that will keep that country back for generations. The notion is that a good idea can not come from outside the country and adoption of ideas that originate from outside the country is discouraged. This will prevent the adoption of quite a large number of good ideas and prevent the country advancing. They are holding themselves back through their religious intolerance. Who invented oil wells? Why are they using them? It would seem that they are inconsistent in their application of the "foreign idea" rule. |
