A Mexican Army patrol fought a gun battle with armed suspects in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, killing two and seizing 20 kilograms of cocaine, according to Mexican news reports.
The army patrol, a detachment of the Mexican 8th Military Zone, was fired on by gunmen in front of a residence on calle Laguna Santa MarÃÂa in the Buena Vista district, as they were conducting surveys.
Soldiers seized the cocaine which was in two packages, a rifle, two magazines and 4,295 rounds of ammunition, as well as one vehicle.
