Yemeni president vows to fight al-Qaeda

[Iran Press TV] Yemeni President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh has pledged to fight suspected al-Qaeda elements as the country is under heavy attack by the terrorist group.

The Yemeni chief executive made the remarks during a speech on the anniversary of the country's revolution on Sunday.

"We are committed to the war on terror which has harmed our economy, the reputation of our religion and country," Saleh was quoted as saying by state news agency Saba.

Suspected al-Qaeda forces of Evil "have attacked the interests of our people and our homeland," he went on to say.

"We have no choice but to face their danger and overcome it by all means," he further explained.

There have been fierce clashes between government troops and suspected al-Qaeda forces of Evil in Yemen. There is a heavy presence of army soldiers in the area to keep the forces of Evil in check.
