22 Die in Northern Mexico

A total of 22 individuals were murdered in ongoing drug and gang related violence in northern Mexican states including four in Chihuahua, Chihuahua and a former police agent in Santiago, Nuevo Leon shot to death.

  • Two unidentified men were shot to death in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Friday, say Mexican press reports. The attack took place near the Smart La Villita shopping center near the intersection of calle Emiliano Zapata and Belisario Domínguez in the Villa Vieja district where a three vehicle convoy carrying armed suspects attacked the victims who were riding in a sedan.

  • Two food vendors were shot to death in Juarez Friday night, say Mexican press accounts. The attack took place near the intersection of calles Barranca de Urique and Satevo in the Villas Residencial district where armed suspects riding a Chevrolet Trailblazer shot the victims using 9mm weapons. Reports say 16 9mm spent shells were found at the scene.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death following a foot pursuit in Juarez, say Mexican news reports. The attack ended near the intersection of calles Islas Guadalupe and Soto y Gama in the Chihuahua district where the the victim's pursuers shot the victim from atop a ravine.

  • Two unidentified men reports say were business executives were found dead Friday on a highway in Chihuahua. The find was made on Kilometer 175 on the Chihuahua-Delicias highway where the victims were found in an advanced state of decomposition. The victims were gagged and shot to death. Several spent AK-47 spent shells were found at the scene.

  • Three men and a woman were found shot to death late Friday night in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, say Mexican press reports. The find was made near the intersection of calles Privada de Sabino and José Marti where the four victims were found dead against a wall of an arroyo. All four with their hands bound with yellow ties and gagged. A message was left at the scene as well. Several spent 9mm and .45 caliber shells were found at the scene.

  • An unidentified armed robber was shot to death during the attempted robbery of a convenience store in Juarez early Saturday morning. Four unidentified armed suspects attempted to rob the Oxxo convenience store near the intersection of Lopez Mateos and Oscar Flores, when a disagreement was raised with one of the suspects. The victim was shot in the face, and the rest of the gang fled the area.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death in front of several witnesses, say Mexican press accounts. The attack took place near the intersection of calles Manuel Soto and Pedro Baranda in the Constitucion district where the victim was shot by several armed suspects in front of a crowd of individuals. Reports say the victim was pushed in front of a "wall" of four other armed suspects when he was shot.

  • An unidentified man was shot to death in Juarez Sunday morning, according to Mexican press accounts. The victim was found near the intersection of Gabino Barreda and Begonia with six gunshot wounds to the head.

  • Four individuals were found murdered in three separate crimes in Tijuana, Baja California, according to the Mexican daily Frontera. The first victim, tentatively identified as Juan Francisco Garcia Lacio, 20, was found in the Rinconada district shot dead. Several spent shells for an AR-15 were found at the scene. The second victim was found on calle Ferrocarril in the Batalla Nacional district, tentatively identified as José Luis Mora Avalos, 56, had two gunshot wounds. Two more victims were found headless in the San Antonio de los Buenos district.

  • A former police officer was shot to death in Santiago, Nuevo Leon early Saturday morning, according to Mexican press accounts. Reports say three unidentified armed suspects shot the victim using 5.7mm pistols on calle Privada Francisco Alanís in the San José Norte district.

  • An unidentified man in the beginning stages of decomposition was found in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Saturday morning, say Mexican press accounts. The discovery as made near the intersection of calles José Aramberri and Venustiano Carranza, an area reports say is rife with drug activity. The victim died from a blow to the head.
