Quran-burning outrage builds across the globe

[Pak Daily Times] Condemnation: Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Friday said that Jones "should not even think" of burning the holy Quran.

"By burning the Quran they cannot harm it. The Quran is in the hearts and minds of one and a half billion people. (But) insulting the Quran is an insult to nations," Karzai said.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad branded the episode a "Zionist plot" that would end up in the speedy "annihilation" of Israel, while Ismail Haniya, a top leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, called Jones an "insane lunatic".

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono lashed out anew against Jones a day after calling on US President Barack Obama to intervene.

Afghan protest: Thousands of people took to the streets across Afghanistan on Friday, some threatening to attack US bases.

One protester was shot dead and several were wounded outside a German-run NATO base in northeast Afghanistan and NATO said it was investigating. Demonstrations later spread to the capital, Kabul, and at least four other provinces.

A crowd, estimated at 10,000 by a government official, poured out of mosques into the streets of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan in Afghanistan's northeast, after Eid prayers. One protester was shot dead when the people tried to enter the NATO base in Faizabad.

#12  OP, I think that's a rather harsh view. Granted it has a basis in reality, but we aren't QUITE at that point yet. Though I would certainly sleep better should it be done, even while mourning the innocent lost in the attack.

An easier thing to do would be to use our Germ-warfare programs to effectiveness. Black ops goes in to areas where there is no US troop presence and spreads around some Plague or something into the water supply. Less costly, less traceable, and with any luck will drive people away from the "nuts" since they are cursed by Allah.

#11  I have come to the reluctant conclusion that Afghanistan is incapable of governing itself as long as there are Pashtuns in the government. The same also goes for Pakistan, but includes a dozen other tribes as well. The solution is to pull out, let the Taliban take over, and then nuke the lower half of the country and all of Pakistan into oblivion. The rest of the islamic world, understanding that we're totally fed up with their little snits, will either learn to play nicely, or will become targets - their choice. Before we can do that, however, we're going to have to clean out Washington, down to the GS-12 level.

#3  yes you have lost the 9/11 war and I am sorry about that. the crazy islamics are the enemy of all.

BUT the new enemy is sitting there laughing at the waste of money, resources and energy that the USA is throwing at the Islamics.

The real threat is China. They are waiting for you to weaken.

Instead the US should pull out of Iraq, Afghanistan and start training, saving and preparing for the next superpower confrontation which is coming as surely as the night follows the day.

If you want to pick a fight with the islamics at least make it look like it comes from China. Let them waste their treasure for a change.

US and NATO forces are in Afghanistan, their official mission is to "serve" the Afghan people.

The Afghan President is threatening individual American citizens in the US because they dare exercise their constitutional rights.

The US govermenment at all levels does not condemn Karzai or the other impudent thugs issuing threats.

No, the US government is putting pressure on Americans so that they "voluntarily" give up their rights and the Arab-Islamic thugocracy can be appeased.

Would it be unreasonable to conclude that the US and the West have lost the 9/11 war?
