FL church withdraws plan to burn Quran | |||

[Iran Press] Pastor Terry Jones has decided to cancel his plan to burn the holy Quran at his Florida-based church, a plan which had drawn fierce international criticism. Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center church announced on Thursday that "we have agreed to cancel our event on Saturday," ABC reported. Upon announcement the blasphemous plan to burn the holy Quran drew domestic and international condemnation.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the plan, describing it as "disrespectful and disgraceful." Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki blamed the plan on the failure of US policies to protect the basic rights of American Muslims.
A spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said on Wednesday that "we strongly condemn any kind of attempt of this kind." The United Nations Secretary General Bank Ki-moon slammed the plan saying, "Such actions cannot be condoned by any religion." Afghanistan, India, Indonesia, Kuwait, Pakistan, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the NATO have also condemned the plan. Meanwhile, Jonse said on Thursday that his decision came after he reaches a deal with Imam Abdel Rauf, the leader of the proposed Ground Zero Islamic cultural center and mosque, to mover the facility. "He has agreed to move it," Jones said referring to the Ground Zero Islamic cultural center and mosque.

#10 It's not a lie if said to infidels, especially if said for the greater 'glory' of Islam. True, Glenmore, from the imam's perspective. But the infidels who were paying attention now believe Muslims are eager liars. So the short-term win is really a long-term loss. |

#9 Jimmy, I think that guy has a great idea...reading the Quran out loud...holy cow...I wish I had thought of that. Karl, Please don't call me Jimmy, that reminds too many people of that Bozo Carter... I agree reading the "kill all infidels" portions in particular would at least crack the door open for some people...we know CAIR doesn't want any public cover to cover readings of the Quran... Yep an informed public is a well informed public... |

#8 such a lot of powerful people on board condemning a legal act of little wisdom. Would that the same people condemn the legal but stupid planting of a victory mosque at GZ as strongly and relentlessly. Two sides of the same coin. One can do either both - or neither. |

#6 For anyone who thinks that any kind of appeasement works for anything, check out the batshiat crazy "KOS Granny", ranting that America deserves more 9-11s. Never, ever trust that batshiat crazy people will do anything but batshiat crazy. And never, ever give them the tools to hurt you, or you'll end up like some innocent tourist with their head bashed in with a brick by some street schizophrenic who thinks they are lizard king. What they care about doesn't matter. What they want doesn't matter. You can't appease them in any way, because they are batshiat crazy. |

#5 Can link? Dude, the demirats don't need a link, they'll make one up. Has the past crazies (and coming from me that's saying some thing), or Jounolist not taught any thing? They make up stories to fit their wants. As long as they can plant a seed, they're golden. |

#4 Never waste a good crisis: Well, let us examine this Jones thing for a moment. If we can link the Quran burning to middle America "Hate Speech" or the "Tea Party" crowd... that would be a real plus. Or, if we could possibly link the idea of burning Qurans by a US Christian Church to escalating US casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan.... WOW! Patreus is on board. Hillary and the UN are on board. We've even got a statement from NATO and the POPE! One highly publicized call to the Pastor Jones from Secretary Gates should do the trick. |

#2 All the dhimmis can now be happy, the infernal Quran is safe again. Christ, the terrorists really have won when people are too afraid to burn their damned manual -- burning the Quran is no more objectionable than burning Mein Kampf or the Communist Manifesto. |

#1 Now that you have a pre-fab media audience, just read the vile thing out loud. That will shock way more people than any symbolic book burning would. Might even open a few eyes. |
