Hamas police arrest prominent Gaza doctor
2010-09-05
[Pak Daily Times] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, jugged a prominent Gazoo physician best known for keeping the official count of Gazooks killed in the fighting between the Israeli military and Paleostinian gunnies in the past two decades, his brother told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named Saturday.

A senior Hamas official confirmed the arrest of Dr. Moawiya Hassan in but did not say why he was detained. He also requested anonymity, citing the sensitivity of the issue to local residents. Hassanain is a loyalist of Fatah, the rival Paleostinian party to Hamas. Hassanain hasn't been politically active for years however, and unlike other Fatah loyalists who refused to work after Hamas seized power of Gazoo in 2007, Hassanain stayed on the job. The physician rose to particular prominence after Hamas banned health officials speaking to the press. Hassanain openly defied the ban and continued to speak to reporters. He would also normally identify casualties as gunnies or civilians. Hassanain's role became crucial particularly during Israel's three-week Gazoo offensive that ended in January 2009.
