LakhviÂ’s bail plea turned down
2010-08-31
ISLAMABAD — An anti-terrorism court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the alleged mastermind of Mumbai terrorist attacks.

ATC-I Judge Malik Akram Awan said the defence had failed to produce adequate reasons for releasing Lakhvi on bail who is facing a serious charge.

LakhviÂ’s counsel, Khwaja Sultan Ahmed, had sought post-arrest bail for his client and said an inordinate delay was being caused by the prosecution.

The prosecutor, Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ahmed, submitted that the delay was not being caused by the investigators and that there was ample evidence and witnesses to prove that Lakhvi had provided training and sent terrorists to India.
