11 Die in Chihuahua and Sonora
Eleven individuals were murdered in drug and gang related violence in northern Mexican states which include a Juarez police commander shot to death and a beheaded Mexican Federal agent found Tuesday near a university swimming pool.

- A Juarez police commander was shot to death Monday afternoon, according to Mexican news sources. Marquez Alberto Balderas, 30, a police commander at the Benito Juarez police station in northern Juarez was shot to death in his Chevrolet Suburban on Avenida Manuel J. Cloutier and Conjunto del Bravo with assault rifles.
- An unidentified owner of a drug store was shot to death in a robbery attempt Monday afternoon, say Mexican press accounts. The assault took place near the intersection of calles Sonora and Montes de Oca in the Melchor Ocampo district, where robbers stole a delivery van after they shot the store owner. The van was found abandoned a short distance away.
- An unidentified Chihuahua state police agent was shot to death in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, say Mexican news accounts. The attack took place behind a Walmart in the Juventud district as the victim was driving his Ford Explorer and was shot by armed suspect riding in a Volkswagen Bora.
- Three unidentified young men were attacked by armed suspects leaving a toll of two dead and one wounded in Juarez, according to Mexican news sources. The attack took place near the intersection of calles Acapulco and Puerto PrÃÂncip in the Industrial district where armed suspects riding two pickup trucks shot at the trio, killing one instantly, and then shot a second youth who tried to flee.
- Two unidentified men were shot and wounded at a grocery store in Juarez Monday evening, say Mexican news account. The attack took place near the intersection of Avenida Lopez Mateos and Rio de la Plata at the El Paisa grocery store where armed suspects shot the pair as they entered the store.
- An unidentified man was shot to death in Parral, Chihuahua late Monday night, according to Mexican press accounts. The attack took place near the intersection of calles RÃÂo Aros and Miguel Barragan in the Cerocahui district when armed suspects riding aboard several vehicles attacked the victim as he was driving his Mercury Sable. When he was hit with gunfire, the vicitm crashed his vehicle into a residence, then armed suspects dismounted their vehicles to run up to the victim and kill him.
- A young man was found shot to death in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Tuesday morning, according to Mexican press reports. The victim was found in the Puerta Chihuahua area of Chihuahua city shot several times. A message was left with the victim saying the victim was a carjacker and a criminal gang member. Reports say the victim had been abducted Monday afternoon in the Juventud district.
- An unidentified woman in her 20s was shot to death in Juarez Tuesday morning, say Mexican news accounts. The attack took place near the intersection of Berilio and Acacias in the Altavista district where the victim was shot then dragged a short distance. The victim succumbed to her injuries while waiting for an ambulance.
- An unidentified man was shot to death in Nogales, Sonora Tuesday, according to Mexican press accounts. The attack took place on calles Cardinales in the Villa Sonora district near the US border.
- An unidentified Mexican Federal agent was found beheaded in Juarez, according to Mexican press reports. The discovery was made on Bulevar Cuatros Siglos near the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez swimming pool, where the victim's dismembered body parts were spread over several city streets. A message with the victim's head claimed the victim was associated with Sinaloa criminal cartel.
