Car bomb leaves 23 casualties in Baghdad |

![]() “A car rigged with explosives went off on Friday morning (July 9) near an army checkpoint in al-Aamiriya neighborhood in western Baghdad, killing five persons, including three soldiers and two civilians, and injuring 18, including two soldiers and 16 civilians,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency. “The blast damaged a number of civilian vehicles,” he added, without giving further details. Baghdad witnessed several explosions in the past few days, during which scores were killed or wounded, most of them are Shiite pilgrims. |
