Top Taliban Commander Killed in NATO Attacks |

13 Taliban militants, including a top Taliban commander, were killed in the NATO air-strikes in the central province of Maidan Wardak on Saturday, officials say A report by the province's media office reveals that one of the two attacks occurred in the province's Shikhabad district, in which 11 Taliban insurgents were killed. The second attack happened in the province's Saidabad district in which two Taliban militants were killed. Coalition troops have recently increased their attacks on Taliban havens, in an effort to wipe out insurgents from the country's volatile regions. The new US top commander of foreign forces in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, told Afghan officials on Saturday: "Your success is our success." Petraeus added that the campaign to strengthen the Afghan government in the face of the insurgent threat "is an effort in which we must achieve unity of effort." |
