Fremont voters say yes to immigration ordinance
2010-06-23
Fremont voters approved an illegal immigration ordinance in a special election Monday. The ordinance would ban the harboring, hiring of and renting to illegal immigrants.

Unofficial results from the Dodge County Clerk's Office showed voters approving the measure 57 percent to 43 percent. With approximately 45 percent voter turnout, 3,906 ballots were cast in favor of the ordinance and 2,908 against. Sixteen precincts voted for the ordinance while voters in four precincts were opposed.

"The people have spoken," State Sen. Charlie Janssen said.

#5  No city or state can enforce Immigration Ordinance. The 57 percent of the 45 percent have placed the city in a financial black hole. Were the financing drain has no end and it's not reversible in a short run prior to the damages incurred by the recidents. I look for the DOJ will also file a suit against the city.

#3  So with this and with Arizona, the Feds are saying "you have no right to enforce federal laws". Well, fine, then we obviously shouldn't be enforcing any other Fed laws either. Putzes.

#2  Yeah - they're cut off federal funds for enforcing federal law.

What a world...
