[Quqnoos] Taliban have threatened tribal elders in southern Ghazni province not to participate in the upcoming Peace Jirga"Unfortunately, this is not a peace jirga, but a funny jirga. People's representatives will not attend it because of the threats," said a member of the Ghazni Provincial Council, Abdul Wali Khanzada.
A number of Ghazni provincial council members said the participation of the threatened people would not help the twice-delayed jirga.
"The participation of these tribal elders will be of no use," another local council member said.
The Peace Jirga will be held in Kabul by next week, but the Taliban and some political factions are not willing to attend the assembly designed to put an end to the nine-year long war.
