Russia: Police in Dagestan defused homemade bomb |

![]() The bomb was found on Wednesday on the outskirts of the village of Oguzer near Kizlyar, where 12 people, nine of them policemen, were killed in two suicide blasts were killed. Wednesday's blasts came two days after deadly attacks on the Moscow metro killed 39 people and injured 85 others. Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov claimed responsibility for the blasts in a brief video posted on a rebel web site late Wednesday, following the bombings in Kizlyar. Russia has been fighting militants in the North Caucasus for almost two decades, including two brutal wars against separatists in Chechnya. |
