A series of bomb explosions in Afghanistan has left eleven civilians, including five children, dead. The children were killed in a roadside bomb blast in western Herat province on Saturday, Afghan Interior Ministry confirmed. The ministry also reported the loss of six civilian lives in two similar blasts in south of the country.
Taliban militants use roadside bombs to target Afghan and foreign forces. But the explosive devices also kill civilians. The United Nations has reported that more than 2,400 civilians were killed in Afghanistan last year.
