| [Ma'an] Israel rejected a UN Human Rights Council resolution urging the country to pay Palestinians for damage incurred during the military assault on Gaza that began in late 2008. "The UNHRC resolution... has nothing to do with safeguarding human rights," Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said in a statement, according to The Jerusalem Post, an English-language Israeli newspaper. "Israel, as a democratic country, will continue its internal investigations, as part of its commitment to rule of law and moral values." |
