Fierce gun battles have raged between NATO-backed Afghan troops and heavily-armed militants targeting UN and government buildings in the city of Lashkar Gah. Several militants armed with machine guns attacked the UN office in the capital of the volatile Helmand province on Friday.
Sound of rocket-propelled grenades and heavy gunfire could be heard from an area which houses government offices and international organizations.
Afghan forces had to call in air support after coming under fire from what they say was a large number of militants.
