| Taliban invited to Afghan peace talks |

| TALIBAN insurgents would "definitely" be invited to peace talks announced by Afghan President Hamid Karzai at an international conference in London overnight, his deputy spokesman Hamid Elmi said. "Definitely we will invite the Taliban," he said. "We are using all kinds of possibilities - our neighboring countries, the international community, the king of Saudi - to encourage the Taliban to come." Mr Karzai told the London conference of more than 70 countries and organizations supporting Afghanistan that he hoped that Saudi Arabian King Abdullah would help guide the process to end his country's grueling conflict. |
