[Dawn] At least eight militants including a key commander were killed as gunship helicopters pounded a militant hideout in Shandara village of Baizai Tehsil in Mohmand Agency on Thursday. Official sources said the strike was carried out when an important meeting of the militants was underway in the area. A key militant commander was killed in the strike but his name could not be confirmed.
The remote village of Shandara is still shadowed by the militants.
Also, sporadic incidents of violence have been reported in the last three months in Baizai as security forces continue search and clearance operation in the area.
The rest of Mohmand has been cleared of militants and only Baizai and some areas are occupied by militants.
