FBI, CIA interrogate father of Nigerian suspect
2009-12-31
[Iran Press TV Latest] The US intelligence agents have interrogated the father of the Nigerian who tried to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner.

The FBI and CIA agents met with Umar Mutallab, father of the purported bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, at the US embassy in Abuja.

"I can confirm that Umar Mutallab was summoned to the desk office of the US embassy in Abuja, where he was interrogated by men from the CIA and FBI on Monday," a Nigerian intelligence source told AFP on Wednesday.

The CIA and the FBI wanted to know more about his background and that of his son, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Reports suggested that the father had warned the US intelligence earlier this year against radical inclinations of his son.

Abdulmutallab allegedly worked with Al-Qaeda in last week's bid to bomb the Northwest Airlines Flight 253 en route to Detroit by igniting explosives stitched into his underwear.

#8  WTF is happening to our country?

Same thing that has been happening for decades -I've been observing for at least three and half decades- Liberalism/Progressiveism, multiculturalism, political correctness, diversity or name your own -ism.

And people believe that it can all be turned around during the 2010-2012 elections. Hogwash. Nothing short of ruthlessly cutting the heart out of the left will even begin to set things on the right track. And, that is going to mean violating some peoples Constitutional Rights.

Very interesting (hard) times ahead. You can expect at some point RWDS just like they had in some South American countries. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't already organizing.

#7  The man reported his son as a potential terrorist. We dropped the ball.

I hardly think interrogate is a good word for asking him questions but then again this was reported by the Iranian press for consumption to muslims.

#6  Why is the CIA involved in the interrogation of a strictly civilian law enforcement matter?

#5  #1 This man has honor.

Indeed. And more intelligence, and more value to us than Janet Napolitano.

WTF is happening to our country?

#4  "Interrogate" suggests duress & that, in fact, the man is in US custody, IE, under arrest.

I hope that's not the case, seeing as he's apparently done absolutely nothing wrong, and how he sounds to have been the only one in the whole sorry process trying to connect the dots, even if he was effectively pushing a wet noodle in doing so.
