2 bumbling bandits in Maryland attempt to rob funeral home, thinking it's a bank |
2009-12-03 |
![]() The two men might have mistaken Lee Funeral Home, in Owings, for a bank next door, Calvert County cops say. The dunderheaded duo reportedly assaulted one funeral home worker, who sustained nonlife-threatening injuries. An employee at the mortuary explained to the two men that they were not, in fact, in a bank, Lt. Steve Jones, of the Calvert Investigative Team, said. The pair later robbed a Suntrust bank in neighboring Dunkirk, 5 miles away, where they stole cash and fired a shot at a bystander who tried getting a look at them, law enforcement officials believe. The bumbling bandits' spree prompted the lockdown of four schools in the area. The crooks are still at-large. |
