Feinstein: Whether Osama bin Laden Should be Read Miranda Rights is a 'Murky Area' |

![]() Under U.S. law, a person who is arrested or placed in legal custody must be told his Miranda rights, which usually read as follows: "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?" CNSNews.com asked Feinstein on Nov. 19, "Attorney General Holder said it wouldn't matter whether or not -- when we caught bin Laden -- whether or not he was Mirandized. Do you think we should Mirandize him, if we're going to try him in civilian court as the attorney general suggested?" Senator Feinstein said: "As far as I'm concerned, the Mirandizing is a kind of murky area. We're looking into it with some specificity and I'm going to take the word of the attorney general right now." |

#14 CF, IIRC,under the Geneva Convention, you have to give them a drum head court martial before you can execute them in the field. |

#13 Just remember - unless he's in a uniform or has a distinguishing badge or something showing that he's a combatant and not hiding behind the skirts of a civilian -- its perfectly legal (almost required by the much touted Geneva Convention) to execute him in the field as an illegal combatant. |

#11 You got that right Steve. On an amusing side note, his neice was going to UC Berkeley when I met her. The one area she was failing in was Latin American History, because she kept correcting her Marxist professor with actual information she'd personally witnessed. Eventually she decided to shut up and pass the class, but there was a lot of complaining to the boyfriend (me) about it. |

#8 That's the story I read. As I recall Che's last words were something on the order of, "don't kill me, I'm worth more to you alive." The Bolivians knew better, of course, and shot him. |

#7 Many, many years ago when Secret Master was young and a romantic adventurer, I dated the neice of Mario Terán: the man who infamously shot Che Guevara. (And what an interesting girl she was.) Her family has a very, very different version of his death than the official one: a version that involved Che begging for his life and offering to turn in his "commrads." Just saying. |

#6 Mr Angleton Che Geuevara used to volunteer for torturing people. His captors were far nicer to him than he ever was when he had the upper hand. |

Do you really believe that anyone in the chain of command is going to press a Courts Martial against the trigger puller? [Yes, I've read the SITREP on the SEALS] I say the latter because, yes today you could Courts Martial the lad, and years from now be before a Senatorial Committee and be looking at the newly elected Senator from a state, that had a population of far more intelligent voters than you can imagine, that once was that trigger puller or one of his buddies. Payback is a mother. |

#2 Remember when they caught Che Guevara alive? And they came in with pistols and the cigar dropped out of his mouth when he suddenly realized what they were going to do? Surprise , surprise. Yeah. It isnt really that hard to shoot people, especially if they dont have a gun themselves and cant get out of the room . Its even easier when they are tied up in the trunk of a car. Lumumba, remember him? He was snuffed in the trunk. Another old trick is slash his tire outside in the parking lot and when he comes out to examine it and bends over....( come over to help) two in the back of the head with a small caliber pistol. Not a lot of noise, works like a charm. Take his keys, put him in the trunk and use his car. 37F at the airport is nice. Wear gloves. |
