End the Clinton Era Military Gun Restrictions? |
2009-11-14 |
The Washingtonn Times may have just been punked over this one. I love anti-Lefist polemics, but it is my understanding that regulations constricting US Army soldiers from carrying personal weapons on base or storing them on base date from at least the early 70s. Clinton may have further enhanced them, but many of the restrictions enumerated in this editorial are at least 45 years old. An excerpt: Time after time, public murder sprees occur in "gun-free zones" - public places where citizens are not legally able to carry guns. The list is long, including massacres at Virginia Tech and Columbine High School along with many less deadly attacks. Last week's slaughter at Fort Hood Army base in Texas was no different - except that one man bears responsibility for the ugly reality that the men and women charged with defending America were deliberately left defenseless when a terrorist opened fire. |
