2 Muslims killed in Thai south |

![]() A former deputy village chief was shot dead in troubled Narathiwat province late on Tuesday as he walked near his home, said police. In Pattani province a Muslim villager was killed in a drive-by shooting, also on Tuesday. More than 4,000 people have been killed and thousands more wounded in Thailand's southernmost provinces bordering Malaysia since January 2004. The shadowy insurgents, who never publicly state their goals, have targeted Buddhists and Muslims alike, with victims ranging from rubber plantation workers to teachers and security forces. |
