#8  les, You and NMBS could be in violent agreement about the appropriate future course. I agree with you both.

#7  Against NMBS. First, nearly all of the Koreans and Filipinos and most of the Taiwanese who come here are fervent Christians, more observant and pious than the average European-descended American, so it makes no sense to assume that "non-European" equals "non-Judeo-Christian."

Second, and far more important, the Taiwanese, Korean and Indian immigrants here are overwhelmingly drawn from those nations' scientific and technical elites. It's as if another country were to receive the top 10% of our graduates each year from MIT, CalTech, Stanford, Princeton, Michigan, Carnegie-Mellon Georgia Tech etc. We need many more such immigrants, not fewer.

Proposal: shift ASAP to a points-based immgration system that privileges people with advanced degrees in hard STEM subjects. End completely all immigration, legal or otherwise, by illiterates and semiliterates without advanced skills. Problem solved.

#6  C. Caldwell: "When an insecure, malleable, relativistic culture meets a culture that is anchored, confident, and strengthened by common doctrines, it is generally the former that changes to suit the latter."

ObL: "When the people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they will back the strong horse."

#5  Thank you NMBS. We should recognize that the 1965 Teddy Kennedy Immigration bill was quite anti-European in the quotas it set up. The likes of TGA, EuroConservative, Bulldog, A5089 and other of our co-commenters may soon be looking for a more harmonious residence. We should welcome them.

#4  Procopius2k, is it possible those who want to bail are either the sane minority or those who saw the error of their ways? Rather those than the 3rd world kleptomainical immigrants we get now. An overwhelming number of the latter end up in our criminal justice system. We need to import more people from the Judeo-Christian West along with a higher birth rate for our own citizens. Add limits on immigration, and we might survive as a culture and a nation.

#3  How about we should prepare to offer asylum to SELECT refugees.

#2  Why NS? We already have here their like minded 'cool' Euro wannabees pushing social ism down our throats. If they didn't get out or were thrown out when our forefathers took the hint it was over, why should we take in those who decided to hang around till the last moment to finally make the cut from the grandeur [and social ist support systems] of Europe. Now if you propose a trade in kind of one quasi American social ist for someone who's willing to come here and not be on the dole for 10 years, you might get a deal.

#1  Without a rejection of the religion and culture that sustained Europe for centuries, he says, the immigration troubles might never have occurred, or at least would not have been so severe: His verdict is suicide rather than murder.

We should be prepared to offer asylum to the refugees.
