No middle-class tax increases, White House insists |
2009-08-04 |
![]() Both Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and chief economic adviser Lawrence Summers had suggested during appearances on the Sunday morning news talk shows that tax increases could not be ruled out for Americans earning less than the threshold that the president has set. Democrats walk a careful line on...But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs adamantly and repeatedly insisted today that the president remains committed to his pledge though he was unable to explain why Geithner and Summers had strayed from the administration's line. ...floating an idea from your boss out there maybe, doughboy? |

#12 No middle-class tax increases, White House insists - I'm from the government. I'm here to help you. - The check's in the mail. - Of course I'll respect you in the morning. - It's just a cold sore. |

#11 It's not a tax, it's a "mandatory investment in the government". |

#7 "Unfortunately, nobody at the "press conference" asked what would happen after the recession ended." No need to, DoDo. They'll raise taxes and start a NEW recession, of course. And blame it on Bush. |

#6 What Gibbs said was that it would be bad for the eceonomy to raise taxes during a recession. Unfortunately, nobody at the "press conference" asked what would happen after the recession ended. |

#4 When politicians "rule something out" I always think of this old bit from Monty Python: There is no cannibalism in the British Navy. Absolutely none, and when I say none, I mean there is a certain amount, more than we are prepared to admit... |

#3 "User Fees", "Corporate Taxes" (guess who pays those), "Assessments", "VAT", "Tobacco Tax", "Liquor Tax", "Fuel Tax", "Misc. Surcharges", "Garden Sludge Cleanup Tax", plus a few more. See, we're averting new income taxes! Now move along. |

#2 OOOOOOPSIES, forgot to say that BECK GUEST JUDGE NAPOLITANO > IIRC briefly ascribed how DEMOCRATS + REPUBS have differing ideas or concepts on what constitutes "BIG GOVERNMENT", espec in America. Could be wrong, but I be;lieve it was BECK? whom replied to the Judge that, regardless of their differentiations, EITHER SIDE MUST DE FACTO SUPPOR THE IDEALS AND PREMISES OF THE US CONSTITUTION + PERSONAL FREEDOM, AND NOT WORK AGZ SAME??? |

#1 FOX NEWS AM > GLENN BECK > IIIRC, Beck was noting how the Bammer's OBAMACARE is riling = angering mainstream Amers like nothing has in a very long time, at least within Beckie's lifetime. NORMALLY DOCILE OR PEACEFUL AMER CITIZENS ARE NOW BRINGING OUT THE STREET SIGNS, BUILDING EFFIGIESS, + STARTING TO YELL LOUDLY, ETC.??? BECK EXPRESSED WORRIES ABOUT AMER'S DIVISIONS BREAKING WIDE OPEN UNDER POTUS OBAMA AND THREATENING THE CONSTITUTION + REPUBLIC. In closing out his show, Beck urged Amers to always "BE PEACEFUL, BUT FORCEFUL" IN SUPPOR THEIR PERSONAL BELIEFS OR CONVICTIONS, about any issue. |
