Sources close to the Taliban militants told The News that Gulab was known for picking up people and then beheading them on charges of spying on the Taliban for the US forces stationed in Afghanistan.

Witnesses said armed men came to the bazaar in a pickup truck with tinted glasses and rained bullets on commander Gulab and his fighters.

Two other men working at a Tandoor were critically injured in the firing and one of them was shifted to Peshawar for treatment. Tribal sources said the assailants seemed to be militants. Meanwhile, the Taliban released 10 Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers kidnapped two days ago from their post on the Esha-Razmak Road in North Waziristan.
