#8  Political ends and military ends will never be the same thing. Until the threat from the enemy is directly threatening US soil, Americans will always shy away from true use of force. We shy away from true use of force till the cows come home, or the enemy is at the gate. Whichever comes first..

#7  What a bunch of whiners and liars, as they have been apparently called before. Most of this is taken completely out of context by a bunch of malcontents with axes to grind. PICES system? How many times can that soldier mention it? Does he have stock in the company that makes it? WTF? I think most of these guys did their time, but notice none of them were complaining at the time....just now...and on TV....look at me....in front of Congress men and women. What a bunch of sh!tbags....

By his works ye shall know him.

#5  This is much like their “Hearings” they (IVAW) had a while ago. Basically they say war is bad, the US is bad for fighting wars, and if we left all would be well. Why are we spending time on these people?

#4  I hope Congress remembers what happened with Winter Soldier I, and how many of the people testifying were never in a war zone. I'd make VERY sure these people were actually war vets.

War is hell, to quote Patton. People get killed, especially when they're between two opposing armies. I HOPE someone at Blackfive or some other milblog starts asking questions about the people who testified. I know a couple of people that claim to be Vietnam vets, yet aren't. One never left the US. I'm sure there will continue to be dozens of folks from our current wars who never heard a shot fired in anger, but who will tell elaborate, heroic tales of enemy action. They deserve about as much respect for their military service as John Skerry.

#3  I just read over a little of it but it looks like what they are saying is "war sucks." This is supposed to be some sort of revelation to Congress?

#2  Geez, where's Sgt. Jimmy Massey, USMC? And Army Rangers Jesse MacBeth and Micah Wright? And the Ernie Pyle of Iraq, Pvt. Scott Beauchamp?
