Nine suspected pirates were captured Friday by the EU NAVFOR anti-piracy taskforce after two merchant ships were attacked this morning in the Gulf of Aden. The suspects are currently being held on board the Italian warship MAESTRALE, said an EU statement tonight. The MAESTRALE dispatched a helicopter to the area immediately on picking up a distress call early Friday morning when a Greek-owned merchant vessel was attacked with a rocket-propelled grenade. Twelve ships and two Maritime Patrol Air Surveillance are currently taking part in the EU Operation off Somalia.
Italy's nice. I'll bet they'll like it there... I imagine so. But the boyz back home aren't getting anything out of it like they used to. (Nor the girls, neither.) Somebody probably isn't at all pleased about the changing situation. |
