| Muslim immigrants clash with Greek police |

| Greek police used tear gas Thursday during clashes with hundreds of Muslim immigrants protesting in Athens over reports that an officer had desecrated the Holy Quran. Around 1,500 demonstrators marched through the working class district of Kypseli towards the Omonia Square in the city centre, where there were scuffles with officers and tear gas was fired, said police. Demonstrators said that on Wednesday, as police officers stopped four Syrian immigrants to check their papers, one of the officers had desecrated the Holy Quran. After word spread of the alleged incident, the local Muslim immigrant community, mainly from Afghanistan and Pakistan, organised ThursdayÂ’s protest. Police have so far not commented on WednesdayÂ’s alleged incident. |

| #6 Roughly 1,500 protesters, reportedly Muslim guest workers and immigrants, demonstrated in front of Parliament in downtown Athens on Friday afternoon in the wake of an Iraqi man's claims that a police officer tore a piece of paper he was carrying featuring religious verses in Arabic. So I guess they're making homemade Korans now? |

| #2 Lots of muslims in Greece so this is no surprise. Take a few muslims, a firey sermon, a percieved wrong, shake vigorously and you have a disgruntled mob. By next week some well meaning orthodox youths will be pissing on the Karen in front of a mousqe on a Friday. |
