Screening at IDPs' camps to keep Taliban away
2009-05-16
PESHAWAR: The NWFP government on Friday warned the police against the Taliban sneaking into the internally displaced persons' (IDPs) camps. A source said the provincial government has also directed the provincial police officer (PPO) to ensure foolproof screening at the camps.
"Hey Mahmoud! We got a guy, freshly shaved, carrying grenades and wearing a burqa!"
"Let him through, Achmed, he's probably my wife's cousin."
Separately, a police statement issued here said the NWFP IGP under the chief minister's directives had assigned three police officers to making security arrangements for the IDP camps. The officers are Forensic Science Laboratories Director Attaullah Wazir, Crime Investigation Department Superintendent of Police (SP) Gul Saeed Afridi and SP Abdul Majeed Afridi.
With specialists like that what could possibly go wrong?
