Rabbani sees conspiracy to dethrone civilian rule
2009-05-02
[Geo News] Pakistan People Party (PPP) senior leader Senator Raza Rabbani Friday said that a conspiracy was being hatched to bring down the civilian rule. But added that any such attempt against the federation would be foiled with the support of people and labourers. Speaking at a seminar organized to mark the Labout Day here, he said that the civilian government of the People Party was committed to its labour-friendly policy. Senator Rabbani said that the federal government would announce a new labour policy in consultation with all stakeholders by the end of May. "A referendum would soon be carried out in Railway Open Line to reinstate the employees sacked during previous regimes," Rabbani said. Later, he told newsmen that writ of the government had been restored in Sindh. However, he noted that conspiracies were being made to destabilize the federal government. He also expressed grief over loss of lives in recent spate of violence in Karachi. But hoped that law and order situation would improve in the country's financial hub after meeting of coalitions partners.
