Spokesperson of the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President was shocked over this act of barbarism and had asked for a report from the government and local administration. He said that the inhuman and barbaric punishment meted out to the woman had made the heads of the people hang in shame. "For its sheer atrocity the incident will continue to haunt people and the country even in a distant age and clime", the spokesperson said.

Farhatullah Babar said that those who provide political and moral support to the militants behind one pretext or the other should also pause and reflect as to whether this is what they want the country to degenerate into. They must come out openly in denouncing the incident unequivocally and assist in apprehending and punishing them under the law.
